A10 Ely Resurfacing

Jackson Civil Engineering
Sector:
Highways
Completion:
2019
The Project
Carriageway resurfacing work undertaken on a 4 kilometre stretch of the A10 near Ely, Cambridgeshire. We worked with Jackson Civil Engineering on behalf of Cambridgeshire County Council, through the Eastern Highways Alliance Framework.
Our Work
The A10 is the main north-south route between Cambridge and the north of the county, and as such is a vital route for Cambridgeshire. Working nightly over three weeks, Toppesfield planed and resurfaced over 38,000m2 of carriageway and undertook minor civils works, drainage cleansing, and the replacement of road markings and studs. After planing 75mm in depth, we were able to then resurface this in a single pass using an SMA 14 SURF PMB product which provided the combined performance of a Binder and Surface Course in one material. The benefit to the client was a shortened programme duration saving traffic management costs and reducing the overall impact of these essential maintenance works on the traveling public.
