The Project
Rectory Road, a strategic road running through Wivenhoe Essex required resurfacing as part of Essex County Council’s flood elevation scheme. The road often flooded due to poor drainage and road surface. Being a residential area, not only did this cause difficulty gaining access to properties, but it also caused traffic delays.
Our Work
A new drainage system was installed to alleviate water build up on the road. It was then decided that the 8,000m2 area of road should be resurfaced. Working for client Toureen, Toppesfield were contracted to deliver renovation works to an ASDA car park in Blyth, part of a larger renovation of the store. The works saw Toppesfield plane and relay the existing surfacing course on the entrance road to the store, in addition to delivering base, binder and surface course to the car park.
Completed over five shifts, Toppesfield’s skilled operatives and management team worked in collaboration with both Toureen and ASDA to organise the delivery of the works so that it would cause minimum disruption to the operations of the 24-hour supermarket.
