Don Amott Football Arena, Mickleover, Derby

Sports / Leisure
Completion:
2021
The Project
In 2021 Mickleover Football Club invested in major refurbishments to their arena. The renovations included 250 new seats in the main stand, in addition to new LED floodlights and a 4G pitch. Reconstruction of the pitch was vital as the club previously cancelled on average 6 games a season due to waterlogging on the pitch.
Our Work
Toppesfield were contracted to delivered surfacing works for the new football pitch and the surrounding footpaths. The 7,456 m2 football pitch had to be delivered to a tolerance within 3mm due to the requirements of the pitch.
Due to the tolerance levels required, Toppesfield were able to offer the use of a laser level equipped paver. The laser level equipment attaches to the paver to automate the screed level, from data received via a rotating laser. Without the laser attachment, the pavers screed is positioned via an operative using a Dip Sheet, which notes reading taken at various points of the area before delivery. The use of the laser levelling equipment means that a continuous level is being broadcast to the paver, for the screed to be automatically adjusted at any point during the laying process to secure minimal tolerance level.
Results & Achievements
- Toppesfield expert deliver meant that a tolerance of 2mm was achieved on this project.
