The Toppesfield team successfully laid over 12,000 square metres of asphalt in just one shift, as part of the M1 Junction 19 improvements project.
On Tuesday 22nd September a paver gang of 8 workers laid 980 tonnes of asphalt across the newly constructed 250 metre viaduct, to enable the new M6 to M1 southbound link road to open later that day.
The viaduct is the first completed section of the scheme. Carrying M6 eastbound traffic onto the M1 southbound, the new link road is a key step to improving journeys for the 142,000 vehicles that pass through the junction every day.
Toppesfield were awarded the £10 million surfacing contract by Skanska UK in 2014.
