Role Description

 

We have opportunities for an experienced Surfacing Contracts Manager to oversee and manage multiple road surfacing projects. This role will involve managing all aspects of asphalt surfacing contracts, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. The Contracts Manager will act as the key point of contact between clients, subcontractors, and the site team.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management
• Management of asphalt surfacing contracts from inception to completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards while promoting best practices and continuous improvement in the area of work
• Coordinate and planning of materials, labor and plant for each project, ensuring optimal use of resources to meet project deadlines
• Forward planning of works to remove peaks and troughs for production
• Developing and maintaining key client relationship serving as the primary point of contact for contract-related matters, addressing concerns, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collecting and collating monthly material forecasting ensuring management of maximum material outputs

Commercial
• Monitor and control project costs, preparing and managing budgets, and ensuring projects are delivered within financial targets.
• Working closely with the QS to ensure the team maximise financial returns on all aspects of the contract taking steps to minimise risk, protect commercial interests and maximise profit

Health and Safety

• Ensure all projects adhere to health and safety regulations, conducting risk assessments and ensuring a zero-harm culture is maintained.
• Lead and inspire the highest standards of Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality culture, performance and compliance.
• Writing health and safety plans, method statements and risk assessments, ensuring that all sites have the appropriate documentation

Leadership
• Management of operational employees ensuring the continuous development of skills by understanding training needs analysis
• Carry out site inspections and audits in line with company requirements.

The Ideal Candidate:

The successful candidate will have experience in a similar position within the infrastructure, highways, or contracting sectors. You will have:-

• Construction Management Qualification
• A valid CSCS card
• A proven track record of managing contracts in the surfacing industry or a related field
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, team members, and subcontractors
• Proactively and positively promote Health & Safety at all times
• Strong negotiation skills on prime contracts
• Commercial awareness, with a focus on controlling cost and optimising value
• Excellent people management skills with the ability to influence and mentor
